I wanted to post a little update in case you don’t subscribe to my newsletter or follow me anywhere on social media.
Last year I had a few health issues happening at once. One was a large scare that is still sort of ongoing. I was also diagnosed with an eye condition that runs in my family. Thankfully as of this month, it has improved and it shouldn’t affect my vision. However, it’s a condition that comes back with spikes in cortisol and can cause permanent damage. So, with this in mind and with finding using a computer tough, I took time off last year.
This year, I wanted to try to write something and I needed something fun and light that didn’t need a ton of research so I opted to write two YA books. For my historical romance fans, please know that I haven’t given up entirely on historical romance. I feel quite guilty looking like I’m turning my back on it at a time when some publishers are declaring it’s dead. (Really???) I will have a novella coming out later in the year and I’m hoping I can at least make progress on a spicy Regency I started before the eye issues.
That said, I don’t see me being as active as I was in previous years. The issues with my health have not only slowed me down physically, they’ve also highlighted how terrible I am at looking after myself and managing my stress levels. Cutting down on stress is definitely easier said than done as I bet we all know (especially when you’re wired that way!) but I am going to do my best so that means longer deadlines and more downtime.
Thanks for your continued support and to all those who have dropped me messages of encouragement or shared their troubles.
